The Eagle Eye stone, also known as pietersite, is part of the family of quartz gemstones and is composed mainly of a combination of Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye quartz. It is also comprised of several other trace mineral compounds and amphibole fibers which create the characteristic blue chatoyancy, or “cat-eye” effect.

This unique and rare combination of quartz gives the Eagle’s Eye stone a mysterious stormy quality and alluring blue-grey color which is why it is sometimes also called the “Tempest Stone.”
